Our Story
From a first project in 2020 to custom commissions today—building with intention, one piece at a time.

Meet the Maker
I'm Blake, and Whippoorwill Studio began in 2020 the way many maker stories do—with a desire to create something with my hands and learn something new. I'd always been handy, but I'd never truly built anything.
My first project was a set of barn doors for my home office. They're still hanging today—imperfect, but a reminder of how much can be learned by simply starting. That project sparked something, and I've been building ever since.
What began as cutting boards and smaller pieces has evolved into furniture and custom commissions. Each project pushes me to refine my craft, and I've found real joy in taking on larger, more challenging work.
Along the way, I started documenting the process—sharing the wins, the mistakes, and the lessons learned. That documentation became a community, and the community became a meaningful part of the work itself.
The Workshop
Over the years, I've built out a fully equipped workshop—a space that's grown intentionally, one tool at a time. There's always a next upgrade on the list, but the shop now has everything needed to take on serious work.
Woodworking is my craft outside of work. By day, I'm in financial technology. I'm also a new dad, so time is the one resource always in short supply. That constraint has taught me to be intentional about what I make and how I spend my hours in the shop.
Thank you for being here. Whether you're a fellow maker, a longtime follower, or discovering Whippoorwill Studio for the first time—I'm grateful, and I'm excited for what's ahead.
What Guides the Work
Continuous Growth
Every project is an opportunity to learn. The pursuit of better craftsmanship drives each piece that leaves the shop.
Community
Sharing the process openly—successes and failures alike—with fellow makers who value the same journey.
Quality
Every piece meets the standard I'd want in my own home. If it's not right, it doesn't leave the workshop.
Let's Build Something Together
Whether you're interested in an existing piece or have a custom project in mind, I'd be glad to hear from you.
